The Lord is gracious and compassionate,
slow to anger and rich in love (Psalm 145:8)
This verse points out four characteristics of God.
Gracious: God sent his son Jesus to save us. We don’t deserve it because we constantly stray away from him and sin. Everyone falls short of the glory of God, but His grace covers us. We are already forgiven.
Compassionate: God is a compassionate God. When we are mourning or in distress, he hasn’t forgotten us at all. It may seem that way, but he mourns with us. Jesus had compassion on the crowds, he said they were like sheep without a shepherd. He has compassion on us and wants to help us.
Slow to Anger: When we do something wrong, God is slow to get angry. He forgives us and loves us so much, he just wants the best for us. Sure, he doesn’t like it when we sin, but he forgives.
Rich in Love: God loves us more than we can ever imagine. His love is indescribable, it is so deep and wide that nothing can separate us from it. Nothing we can do will ever make him love us any more or any less than he already does, because his love never runs out.
